Press releases provide a very powerful way to increase your company’s profile and being featured within editorial provides credibility.
1. Company milestone: Celebrate reaching a milestone in terms of the number of years which you have been trading for. This can be anything from your first, fifth, tenth, twenty fifth, etc.
2. Employee milestone: As above, but focus on the person and celebrate longer levels of service.
3. Charity: Enter an event and raise money for a chosen charity. This also gives you a great opportunity to contact all your clients and business contacts to enquire if they would like to sponsor you.
4. Employee achievement: Celebrate if any of your employees have gained a qualification or have achieved something in relation to their work.
5. New product launch: Explain why it has been launched, what it does, what the benefits are, what went into developing it and who can benefit from it.
6. Special promotion: Detail what the promotion is, why it is special, how people can benefit and when it ends.
7. New recruit: Write a profile on the person detailing their work experience and qualifications and explain how your company will benefit from their arrival.
8. New business contract: People like to deal with successful companies so let everyone know if you have won a big contract, or if you are dealing with a recognised organisation.
9. Host an event: This can be anything from a drinks reception to a seminar. Detail why you are running the event, who it is for, what they will gain, how to attend and when and where it is.
10. Feature article: Write about a relevant subject associated with your business offering advice and your views. A commercial property solicitor could write a feature on dilapidations and send it to business and landlord publications.
11. External developments: Write a comment piece in reaction to proposed changes in legislation or new initiatives which affect your business. Detail what the likely effects would be, what impact they would have on you and what you will do in reaction.
12. Market research: Find out what your customers, suppliers, etc think about a specific topic related to your business. You don’t necessarily have to write a questionnaire. If you exhibit at a show, ask people who come onto your stand or put a poll on your website where people can vote.
13. New brand: Explain the reason for the change, what you hope to achieve with the new brand and any other associated promotion you may be doing with the launch.
14. New website: As above, but also include what new features there may be, how people can register on the site, etc.
